Staying connected to your loved ones at Samaritan Bethany

April 14, 2020

To protect your loved ones at Samaritan Bethany, the federal government to directed nursing homes to restrict visitor access. While the move helps our residents stay healthy, it can also lead to social isolation, depression and confusion. Our staff are helping families find new, creative ways to keep in touch with their loved ones here at Samaritan Bethany. Here are a few examples:

  • Phone calls. Phone calls are still an option to be able to talk to your loved one.
  • Window visits. Families who are able to visit their loved one’s windows holding up signs and blowing kisses. (not all windows can be opened depending on location)
  • Facetime and Skype. To schedule a time to visit with your loved one via Facetime of Skype, please contact: Allison at aderaad@samaritanbethany.com or 507-424-4064 for Home on Eight or Rehabilitation residents; or Rachael at rpaddock@samaritanbethany.com for 507-424-5454 for Arbor Terrace, Assisted Living or Memory Care residents.
  • Cards and letters. Sending cards, letters and photos to your loved ones is another way to show them that you are thinking of them.

Until you can give your loved one a hug again or hold their hand, please know that we are giving comforting words and doing our best to create fun activities that can be done safely. We are showing Sunday’s sermons from our seven sponsoring churches residents can watch on their TV in their room (if they subscribe to cable through Samaritan Bethany) along with exercises, movies and more. We are visiting your loved one daily to provide reassurance, pray, sing or just be there to comfort them. We are doing what we can do to make sure the outside world stays outside and your loved ones stay safe.
